“Terra-Vulcão” is the first book by portuguese photographer Miguel Ribeiro. A magical and surreal journey to the rituals and sobrenatural manifestations in the Island of São Tomé e Princípe, where there is
no rigid separation between the world of spirits and the world of the living. Exploring the widespread belief in souls with the power to intervene in the material realm, influencing people’s everyday lives, “Terra-Vulcão” was born out of a reflection on the connection between these two worlds, taking inspiration from the texts and experiences of the late antrophologist Paulo Valverde.
